Timing is always key as you book your wedding entertainment and/or music. Be sure that you take into account the length of time that you have rented your wedding reception venue. This will give you an idea of the timeframe that you need to hire a DJ for. If you employ a band for the evening celebration, talk with them about their potential set length and then you can decide what to do if there will be breaks in between. The last thing you want is any period of time where your guests are left without music.
